USA Freedom Corps Launches New Website to Encourage America's Youth to Volunteer

On Wednesday, December 8, 2004, U.S. Department of Education Secretary Rod Paige, Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of USA Freedom Corps Desiree T. Sayle, and Corporation for National and Community Service CEO David Eisner launched a new website designed to show elementary and middle school students how they can start making a difference by volunteering. On Wednesday, December 8, 2004, U.S. Department of Education Secretary Rod Paige, Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of USA Freedom Corps Desiree T. Sayle, and Corporation for National and Community Service CEO David Eisner launched a new website designed to show elementary and middle school students how they can start making a difference by volunteering.

The new website, www.usafreedomcorpskids.gov, also includes resources, ideas, and information to help parents and teachers engage America’s youth in their communities.

Recognizing Local Volunteers

 

President George W. Bush presented the President’s Volunteer Service Award to Connie Bergmann upon arrival in Belleville, Illinois, on Wednesday, January 5, 2005. Bergmann is an active volunteer with the American Red Cross, serving as the Chairperson of Volunteers and the Disaster Action Team (DAT) at the St. Louis Area Chapter Metro East Service Center.
