| What is Vaastu ?
Vaastu is both space and form.Architecture is a combination of material substance and intangible space.The Judiciousness with which substance and emptiness are harmonised;the elegant balance between image and reflection;the subtle connection between object and user;thease are the inherent philosophies of Vaastu.

Design Parameters:
Akasham,Kaala and Shakti
(space,Time and Energy) :-
Living beings inhabit akasham or space.They are linked through shakti or energy
to other energy forms.They are a part of a movement,a cycle of life and
death,which known as Kaala or time .
The traditional design has invested the built or crafted object or any work of art
with three aspects- utility,aesthetics and spiritual benefits- through the adoption
of simple parameters of design .
Material :-
When we build a house or factory today, do we ask ourselfs what materials we
should employ?Whould the materials keep the building alive and breathing, or
whould it make it airtight (sealed off from the enviroment)?
Traditionally, only natural materials were employed for the building because they
breathed, and hence,kept the interconnectedness between inner and outer
space.
Intelligent blending of new technologies with the energy transfer of the built
space with the enviromental space ensure that the occupants would not feel
isolated from universal reality.
Colour :-
Different colours impact upon the viewer in different ways. There are classic
colour codes accepted by cultures and societies.
1. Crimson or Red - colour of aggression, passion,celebration and joy.
2. Blue - colour indicateing infinity,spiritual growth.
3. Green - Colour of vitality, prosperity.
4. Yellow/Ochre - repersents birth ,growth and spiritual awakening.
5. Black - repersents austerity and penace.
6. White - purity and piety.
Shapes :-
All kinds of shapes have been employed in the indian tradition in various
contexts.
Rectangle and Square - Thease are the most preferred builing shapes, they are
considered to be most stable and capable of offering equilibrium and serenity to
user.
Polygon :- Octagons and hexagons in particular have been used for public
builings. Capble of imparting movement to the user's life.
Circle :- Circle,ellipses and oval shapes have been used for public and religious
buildings. Which offers aggression to the user's.
Proportions :-
The visual proportion of the building in both the horizontal and vertical planes,
affects the psyche of the user.The traditional building design as well as the layout
of the settlements, be it a town, village or city. Were set out on a modular grid.
Cosmology and Orientation :-
The people connects the ordinary actions of their everyday life with profound
movements and meanings of the gods.
* North east - isana-Lord of water,direction of nourishing energies.
* East - Aditya - the sun,warm,benifical,direction of knowledge.
* South east - Agni-Fire,direction of sustenance and spirituality.
* South - Yama -Lord of death and darma,diection of rebirth.
* South west - Pitru - Ancestors,direction of past.
* West - Varuna - Lord of water,direction of adventure and material growth.
* North west -Vayu - winds,direction of intellectual achivements.
* North - Kubera - Lord of wealth,medicine,direction of acquistion and
healing.
* Centre - Brahma - Earth,energy centre,power.
