Some of the world's biggest and toughest fighting freshwater
fish can be found in the Thai countryside not far from Bangkok.

Bungsam Lan is a 17 year old tin mining quarry of
approximately 150,000 square meters, which
has been transformed into an amazing fishing park.
A fishing spot to be remembered by its natural beauty
as well as the impressive fish to be caught!

With more than 50 different species of fish swimming
in this freshwater lake, Bungsam Lan has
a huge concentration of fish and a rich
diversity of Southeast Asian fish species.

Species include:
Giant Snakehead, Great White Sheathfish,
Common Silver Barb, Nile Tilapia, Giant Gourami,
Striped Catfish, Giant Mekong Catfish,
Siamese Giant Carp and White Lady Carp.
Non-indigenous fish such as Pacu, Alligator Gar
and Arapaima complement the local Thai species.

Fishing here is genuinely a rewarding experience!
Opportunities to catch fish for both beginners and
enthusiastic anglers are many. Catch reports show that an
average of 40 to 50 kg of fish per angler are caught in a day.
The park is therefore responsible for sending several anglers
back to their home country with a BIG smile on their face,
but with some seriously sore muscles and joints!!!
Several new IGFA World records have recently been set.

Because of the very impressive size and power
of many of the species found in this park,
fly fishing is only recommended for highly experienced
fly fishermen, willing to take up the challenge.

Please note that no fly fishing equipment is provided,
and you should therefore bring your own rod,
reel and flies if you wish try this.

The park's lakeside restaurant offers the opportunity to
watch the fishing action and enjoy one of the
many delicacies from the impressive menu.

Bungsam Lan has one of the best stocked freshwater
tackle shops in Thailand selling everything from rods
and reels to floats, hooks, lines and sinkers.
