Strokestown is located in the Irish Midlands, 95 miles west of Dublin,
Strokestown is the traditional stop off point on the journey to Ballina. It is
reputed to have the widest street in Ireland, Strokestown Park House, has
historic significance, its famine museum and gardens are open to the public. You
can also visit the St Johns heritage and genealogy center.
WHERE TO FISH
There are 14 lakes described on this guide
collectively known as the Strokestown Lakes. Many of these lakes have very good
access and facilities provided by the Shannon Regional Fisheries Board which
includes fishing
stands, disabled angling facilities, access roads and car parks etc. Some offer excellent
fishing while others less
known but worth exploring and experimenting. Neighbouring angling centres

ANGLING FEES
There is no rod licence for coarse and pike fishing
on the River Shannon.
However, a Share Certificate payable to the North
Shannon Development Co-Operative Society is required to fish the
Upper Shannon and tributaries located upstream of Banagher Bridge on the
Shannon in Co Offaly. Please contact the Co -Operative Society for up todate information on applicable rates
and distributors as the Shannon Regional
