Ginger Crinkle Cookies
 


 

Ginger Crinkles
 
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup butter or regular, softened
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
2 cups all purpose flour
1 tbsp ground ginger
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp salt
3 tbsp sugar
 
Heat oven to 375 F.  Beat 1 cup sugar and the butter in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with a wooden spoon, until soft and fluffy.  Beat in molasses and egg.  Stir in remaining ingredients except 3 tablespoons sugar until well blended.  Place 3 tablespoons sugar in a small bowl.  Shape dough by tablespoonfuls into balls.  Roll in sugar.  Place 2 inches apart on un-greased cookie sheet.  Bake 6 to 8 minutes or until golden brown.  Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. 

Yield: About 3 dozen cookies
