Some groups think we are too young to know. They should know we are too young to die.

Current status of Global Youth Partners

In its current phase, GYP is:

In its current phase, GYP is:

Learning lessons from successful advocacy campaigns and building partnerships and collaborative networks with other youth initiatives.
Raising the visibility of underserved and especially vulnerable youth in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Analyzing the national policy and funding environment with regards to HIV/AIDS.
Building capacity of GYP team members.
Developing national strategic advocacy action plans.

National strategic advocacy action plans are now in place in the Dominican Republic and Egypt.

In the Dominican Republic, the campaign focuses on increasing the share of municipal budgets allocated to HIV prevention for young people. To achieve this, the Dominican Republic GYP team is, among other things, engaging with mayors and local council men/women through a series of roundtables and other similar events to convince them of the importance of investing in young people and HIV prevention. Partners in this campaign are the local offices of the NGO Family Care International (FCI) and the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ).

In Egypt, the plan focuses on advocating for the establishment of so-called "Anti AIDS Clubs", i.e. school-based associations that will provide information and services on HIV prevention to students. The model has already been established in Alexandria/Egypt. The Egyptian GYP team will advocate for the expansion of this successful model to secondary schools in Mansoura, a city 3 hours north of Cairo. Partner in this campaign is the NGO Caritas/Egypt.

Additional advocacy action plans will be finalized for Lebanon, Panama and one country each in the Africa, Asia and the Pacific and Eastern Europe regions.
