| NAME AND STATUS OF THE INTERNATIONAL FORUM OF JEWISH SCOUTS "IFJS" |
The International Forum
of Jewish Scouts "IFJS" will be an autonomous body of
Jewish Scouts, who belong to National Member Organisations of
the World Organisation of the Scout Movement.
In 1931, Jewish Scouts came to France from all over Europe to participate at the first International Jewish Scout Camp. At the end of this camp, these young people created a "World Union of Jewish Scouting". This Union was unable to develop due to the tragic events in Europe, starting in 1933 and ending in the Shoa.
The new organisation will be called The International Forum of Jewish Scouts "IFJS" in order to highlight its desire to represent an ideal place for dialogue, exchanges and proposals between Jewish Scouts from all over the world.
| OBJECTIVES OF THE INTERNATIONAL FORUM OF JEWISH SCOUTS "IFJS" |
1. To develop and promote the spirit of brotherhood and understanding among Jewish Scouts, as well as between Jewish Scouts and Scouts of other faiths.
2. To promote warm relations and co-operation between Scouting and Jewish communities.
3. To develop an educational curriculum that should enhance the spiritual dimension in the personalities of young Jewish in accordance with the purpose, principles and method of the Scout Movement.
4. To introduce Scouting in such states or areas where there is a Jewish youth.
5. To co-ordinate the activities of "IFJS" with non-Scout Organisations having the same objectives.
6. To motivate co-operation among "IFJS" members.
7. To motivate and promote Scouting to Jewish boys and girls on a global basis.
