A
Primer on Peacock Bass
Four species are recognized for record purposes by the International
Game Fish Association, but there may be more than a dozen. All have a
very similar shape and a very distinguished coloration; some are
especially brilliant, and, individually or as a group, peacock bass are
among the most colorful of all sportfish.

Jensen Tech Tips - Peacock Bass Tech Report
Imagine a 10-megaton hydrogen bomb going off below your giant
Woodchopper® topwater plug. The peacock bass, by nature, is
aggressive
and its personality is downright belligerent.

World
Record Peacock
The giant peacocks in the area draw most of the interest from the
visiting anglers, Marstellar admits. That hasn't changed since the new
International Game Fish Association all-tackle peacock bass record was
caught on the Rio Negro in late 1994. The 27-pound trophy, taken in
early December, bested the previous record by 8 ounces.

Proud as
a Peacock
According to the most authoritative source in Florida (this magazine,
Florida Sportsman), at least 13 species of non-native fishes of the
cichlid family have set up housekeeping in South Florida over the past
40 years or so. And all of them are doing very well, thank you.

Oh,
Son! by Frank Ross
The following day we landed several large fish, along with a medley of
tigers and smaller peacocks in the 5-8 pound class, until mid-morning.
When the top-water action slowed, I began to plunder through my box.

Brazilian
Peacock Action
In Brazil, the peacock bass, or tucunare, is found only in the Amazon
Basin, but that takes up, geographically, probably 75 percent of the
country.
