doors, limestone carvings, intricately woven mats,
slate and marble floors are part of the hotel's distinctive
Balinese design. Antiques and artifacts from the Indonesian
islands - Java, Borneo, Sulawesi, Lombok, the Moluccas,
Irian Jaya and Bali - decorate the public and private
areas.
Each of the 36 thatched-roof villas is enclosed with
a volcanic rock and limestone wall that surrounds
the villa on three sides. Guests enter through a slim
ornate Balinese door opening into a garden courtyard.
The two-bedroom villas and private gardens encompass
400 square metres (43,000 square feet). The one-bedroom
villas are 298 square metres (3,200 square feet).
Windows on three sides offer panoramic views of the
Indian Ocean.
In 30 villa compounds, plunge pools facing the horizon
have infinity edges that seem to spill water into
the ocean. Each villa's two-person bathtub offers
views of both the ocean and the garden's fily ponds.
Every villa includes a bale bengong, a traditional.
open-air lounging area. The raised platform, carved
from dark coconut palm wood and covered by a thatched
bamboo-framed room is a perfect place to watch the
sunset.
The Balinese design extends te Canang Sari, a wedding
gazebo constructed of coconut palm wood and limestone
flooring, with panoramic ocean views.
