Saluting Black History Month: Alethea Gordon

Alethea Gordon joined the Department of State in 1998 under the Presidential Management Fellowship Program, and in June 2002, was assigned to the Office of the Under Secretary for Political Affairs (P). She served as the Under Secretary’s advisor on foreign policy issues related to Africa, counter-terrorism, economic affairs, democracy, human rights and international health. Presently, Ms. Gordon is a completing a Master’s Degree in International Affairs at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. She is one of three State Department Officers to attend Princeton’s Master’s in Public Policy program under the Department’s 2004 John L. Weinberg Fellowship Program. Since joining the State Department, Ms. Gordon has regularly tutored and mentored students through the Department’s partnership with Miner Elementary School. Deadlines for registration for the FSWE are March 23 for U.S. test sites and March 16 for overseas test sites. [State Department photo]
