February 2005 Newsletter

Volume 2 Issue 2

Please Welcome our new sponsors

Drink Better Water

Also new for 2005

Rich in BCAAs as well as arginine and glutamine, Amino Vital delivers the power your muscles need for sustained exertion. Studies also show that this unique combination of amino acids results in lower creatine kinase (CK-MM) levels in the bloodstream, which can be a symptom of muscle damage and exhaustion.

Bike Transport

If you've signed up or are planning on signing up for your bike to be transported to an event, please check back as we continue to update this section.  Bike drop off locations are being established to make things easier for you and us to get your bike.

Web Designer

Wheels On Wheels is always looking to improve it's website.  If anyone would like to do our web design, we'd like to talk with you.  Preferably an existing Triathlete that would like to trade their skills for ours?

We have a new look

Don't be fooled when you see this trailer, it's still us with a New Look.  Every year, Wheels On Wheels brings on new sponsors.  This year, our new Title Sponsor is Javelin Bicycles.  You can look them up at their website, or visit us at ours, WheelsOnWheels.com.  As this year comes closer to the beginning of the race season, look for us on the road, and providing bike support at many of the local Triathlons and Cycling Events in Southern California.  We look forward to seeing you this year at the races or just out on the road for training.  Good luck to all of you for the 2005 race season.

Exclusive to those that are fortunate enough to receive this newsletter

As you all know, Javelin is our Team's new Bicycle sponsor.  With the race season just around the corner, and in full force for those that will be participating in Ralph's 1/2 in March, I am making this one time, good only for the month of February offer on a new Javelin Arcole Frameset.  This is the frameset that our Team is on, and the feed back from all the athletes is that the bike is "FAST".  So here's this month's special offer for those serious athletes that are looking for the new frameset.  This frameset comes with the carbon 1" aero fork, FSA Integrated headset, and adjustable seat post so you can find just the right seat tube angle.  Normal retail is $1795.00, but only for the month of February, I will knock off $300.00.  That's about a 17% discount with no questions asked.

Why am I doing this you ask?  Several reasons:

  1. You're my valued customers, and I want to offer you something special,

  2. In support of our sponsors, I would like to see many of you on this new frameset,

  3. I am currently the only Javelin dealer in the Southern California area and I would like to get better known as the Dealer to ask for when looking for a Javelin.

To determine your frame size and to order one of these frames (if I don't have your size in stock), you can visit Javelin's website at www.javbike.com and go to the frame size chart, and then call or email me with your order.

With the race season just around the corner, don't get caught without knowing some of the basic maintenance of your bike!  Even if you're feeling good about your skills, how about learning how to change a flat tire under 2 minutes.  That's right, don't be afraid the next time you get a flat, do what I do, change it and move on.  The Park Tool School is only being offered through Wheels On Wheels, so sign up now.  Click the logo for more details and call for class dates.

Team Results

The race season has started for some of us.  With the Carlsbad 1/2 Marathon behind us, we can officially say that the season has begun.  This was a good test for those just being the first time to participate in a 1/2 Marathon, but  some  are using this as a base to gauge themselves for the up and coming Ralph's 1/2 Ironman.  Good job to the following Wheels On Wheels Team Members:

Daniel Yeager - 1:32:25
Mike Meydenbauer - 1:27:39
Felipe Louriero - 1:27:00

team in training

Help me support the cause.  Living in San Diego, I have seen and known many people who have participated in the Team in Training.  I feel that this is a worthy cause and have decided to do my part in giving to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In doing so, I have signed up to participate in one of their events.  For those of you that know of TNT, you know that I have to raise a certain dollar amount to be able to go to this event.  If you wish to make a donation for the cause, and to help me get to this event, please do so.

Thank you for your support

Tech Tips

Something new that I'll be starting is having a Technical Tip section for you  to view.  Many of you are always asking questions, and this should help you keep up with some of the things that you should know.  If you have some current technical questions that you'd like me to start with, please email them to me and we'll get started with those first.

Upcoming Events

Now that we're out there and getting in shape, look for us at these events for this month.  You can view our Calendar to keep up with us.  I'll be doing support at most of the local Cycling Events:

Boulevard Road Race, Feb 5th
El Cajon Criterium, Feb. 12th
St. Valentines Day, Feb. 13th
