Employment Opportunities
at UNFPA
For employment with UNFPA, an advanced
degree in a study pertinent to UNFPA's programme, for example,
demography, public health or population studies, and some
experience in a developing country, preferably with a development
organization similar to UNFPA are pre-requisites.
The applicant should also have the ability
to take up assignments in UNFPA field duty stations as part
of career development with UNFPA. Fluency in English is required;
speaking and reading ability in one other United Nations Language,
preferably French or Spanish is desirable. Please note that
UNFPA will only be able to respond to those applicants in
whom UNFPA has a further interest.

the completed Personal History form by e-mail along with an
application letter indicating the vacancy announcement number
to the e-mail address provided at the end of each
vacancy announcement. If you prefer to send the application
by "snail" mail, the address is provided at the bottom of
this page.
UNFPA participates in the Junior Professional
Officer (JPO) programme which is intended to provide on-the-job
training for young professionals who wish to pursue a career
in development assistance. It gives them an opportunity to
acquire professional experience in managing population projects
in a developing country. The programme is based on the sponsorship
of young professionals, generally under 30 years of age, by

exposure to UNFPA operations. It is designed to complement
