Campaign Legal Center

More and more companies and organizations today want to be the one-stop-shop for information on the web regarding a particular subject matter. Sometimes they do it because they want to be known for their expertise in a subject. Other times they simply have a desire to serve the public.

Firmseek recently addressed this very issue for the Campaign Legal Center (CLC), now known as the leading information source for campaign finance litigation. After launching a Firmseek site at the beginning of 2002, CLC found that it was being looked to as the the definitive source of information on the recently-passed campaign finance reform law. By the first quarter of 2003, it realized it wanted to add features to its web site to help it serve as an information powerhouse.

Firmseek developed dynamic cross-referencing features for the hundreds of documents on CLC's site, dynamic grouping of content for categorizing items under appropriate topics and a news sign-up feature. CLC staff can take advantage of all these features on a daily basis using the Firmseek Site Pilot's point-and-click interface. No technical degree required.

Within one month of adding the new features, CLC doubled its newsletter subscription list through sign-ups on the site alone. Today, prominent reporters come to the CLC web site as the first source for campaign finance litigation information. The Bureau of National Affairs (BNA), a leading publisher of news for Capitol Hill, even went so far as to highlight and praise CLC's web site and its "single, online library of materials related to the litigation over the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act" in its Hill report.
