Starting in 1996, Alexa Internet has been donating their crawl data to the Internet Archive. Flowing in every day, these data are added to the Wayback Machine after an embargo period.
Removing thumbshots can have significant impact on your site. Directory editors including the Open Directory rely on thumbshots to help add, remove and review a site for inclusion into the directory. Once your site has been marked for robot exclusion, it may take a very long time before it get re-visited again if you ever change your mind.
If you do not wish to see thumbshots of your page, you may remove it by adding a robots META exclusion tag into the head section of your HTML page:
