Hartley
Greens have been making Pottery since 1781 and in particular the
manufacture of Creamware which it has continued through to the present
day. Creamware in the 18th and 19th Centuries was particularly well
thought of by the emerging 'Middle Class Society'. The wealth created by
this society had resulted from the positive benefits of increased trade
which had escalated from the early part of the English industrial
revolution, wealth which continued through and beyond the Victorian
era.
The elegance of Creamware on the meal table was highly admired in those
distant days, indeed it was very necessary if you was looking to impress
your guests. Many of the early pieces have survived in museums, country
estates and with ardent collectors treasured for their style and
beauty.

Leedsware Shell Edge Range The
late eighteenth century saw the development of a style of tableware
which combined handsome colour and smooth texture of plain Creamware
with a moulded and often tinted edging, intended to draw the eye to the
food being served. The most popular edging pattern proved to be one,
which imitated the random yet rhythmic structure of a scallop shell.
The Shell Edge range of Side, Salad, Soup, Dinner, Serving Plates is
bound to add to any dinner occasion.
