Craigdarroch Castle

walk from the downtown harbour, just off Fort Street at 1050 Joan Crescent,
Craigdarroch Castle is a beautiful historic Victorian-era mansion,
built in the 1890s by wealthy BC coal baron Robert Dunsmuir. It is
now owned by the Craigdarroch Castle Historical Museum Society and
almost totally funded by its 150,000 annual visitors.
Hatley Castle
(250) 391-2600 ext. 4456 Hatley Castle is located 15 minutes from Oak Lane
Victoria B&B in Hatley
Park and is also the location of Canada's newest public university,
Royal Roads University, and its public gardens. They are located
on 140 acres of land leased from a 650 acre parcel of land owned
by the Canadian Government. The university and gardens are surrounded
by an urban forest containing elements of all biotic zones of Vancouver
Island except alpine and coastal rain forest. The campus area borders
on the saltwater Esquimalt Lagoon which is a bird and wildlife sanctuary.
