Knowledge Sharing in UNFPA is the
interaction of People (UNFPA staff) guided by organizational
Processes (e.g., programme planning, human resources management
systems), enabled by Technology. At its most basic, Knowledge
Sharing
is about synthesizing the dispersed know-how of UNFPA more
effectively and distributing it throughout the organization
for use with partners. It is the systematic and continuous
capture of know-how built from years of experience inside
and outside UNFPA's institutional boundaries so that others
can perform with the competence of an old hand - even hundreds
of old hands - without always having to ask the old hand for
help and advice.
UNFPA adopted a Knowledge
Sharing Strategy in May 2002. This strategic vision has
been implemented in 2002 and 2003 with the development of
a suite of Knowledge Sharing tools,
including a Knowledge Asset Development
System (KADS).
