SPONSOR PROGRAM

By sponsoring a shelter animal, you will help both SOAR and a dog or cat by agreeing pay for some of the many things that they need. The primary difference between fostering and sponsoring is that with fostering you take the dog or cat into your house; with sponsoring the dog/cat stays at SOAR. The most important item to the animal, and to SOAR, is payment of their health care costs.

We have determined, from an analysis of our vet bills and research into the charges of local veterinarians, that routine annual heath care costs average $300 for a cat and $360 for a dog. (Breakdown of health care costs.) Therefore, if you agree to sponsor one of our animals, we would ask that you commit to $25 a month for a cat and $30 a month for a dog. An animal can have multiple sponsors and if this should occur then the cost to each sponsor would be reduced.

What you would get if you decided to become a sponsor.

• Identification of and a picture of ‘your’ dog or cat.
• Updates on the health and vet visits of your dog or cat.
• Updates on adoption fairs that your dog or cat goes to and any adoption possibilities.
• Recognition on our website that you are one of our sponsors.
• The knowledge and comfort that would come from knowing that you are making the life of one animal a little easier and better.

Because SOAR is a non-profit organization, any costs you incurred from participation in this program would be tax deductible. And of course, in the case of adoption, your sponsorship would end.

How to proceed

Send us an email. We will offer you the opportunity to visit SOAR and to meet and select your ‘sponsoree’ although this is not required as you can select from our website or SOAR can select. You will then begin sending money by check. We hope to soon have the ability to transfer money automatically or accept credit card transactions but for the time being it has to be the old-fashioned check or money order.

We think you would be very happy knowing that you are contributing to this animal’s well-being and, if at any time you decide you are unable to continue, you can stop immediately. It is a terrific way for you to provide necessities to one of our wonderful animals without adopting them and taking them into your home.
