SIT Graduate Degrees and Professional Programs

SIT prepares graduates who are critical thinkers, effective communicators in at least two languages, as well as compassionate advocates with exceptional intercultural abilities and awareness. Whether managing international development projects, building the capacity of citizens' groups, or integrating cultural awareness into classroom learning, SIT graduates have the skills they need to accomplish dynamic change in multicultural communities and workplaces throughout the world.

In addition to its master's degree programs in teaching and in intercultural service, leadership, and management, SIT offers professional training in conflict transformation, language teaching management, socially responsible organizational management and many other fields. SIT also offers one of the foremost international education programs through SIT Study Abroad's field-based undergraduate academic programs in more than 40 countries worldwide.

SIT has refined a range of distinctive experiential programs that enable students to transfer academic learning into practical know-how. Guided by faculty, students engage intensively with colleagues whose diverse personal, professional and cultural backgrounds form an essential part of SIT's collaborative learning process. Traditional coursework is complemented by independent research, small group interaction and extensive work in the field. Students become skilled in analyzing disparate viewpoints, creating consensus, determining strategies and taking effective action in preparation for international and intercultural positions in the United States and abroad.

SIT's individualized, competency-based curriculum allows students to play an active role in their professional preparation as they develop and test knowledge and skills. Rather than grades, students receive written and/or oral assessments of competencies and skills, based on their presentations and peer interactions.
