Floorboards
WA specialise in creating unique furniture items from recycled
timbers. Not only is this practice entirely environmentally
friendly it also gives us access to stronger timbers and overall
some of the worlds finest hardwood.
At Floorboards WA we create unique one-off
designs while maintaining the integrity and quality of the
timber. Much of the timber we use is over 50 years old and
came from trees that may have been one hundred years old when
felled. This level of quality timber is no longer available
today with the level of timber demand and the rapidly decreasing
old growth forests.
We utilise a wide range of different timbers
although often specialise in the use of Jarrah and Karri.
Jarrah is internationally recognised and sought after for
its unique texture, vibrant red colour, strength and versatility.
It is also in high demand as it is only found in the southwest
area of Western Australia and supplies are constantly decreasing
making it harder to obtain. By using recycled woods we have
access to some of the highest quality jarrah pieces available.
Karri is another popular furniture wood and
is a similar colour to jarrah but its texture makes it usually
more suited for structural needs such as construction or cabinetwork.
Blackbutt and marri are also popular furniture wood and their
lighter golden like colours make them suitable for a wide
range of home décors. We also work with a range of
other woods as available including Tasmanian oak.
