LAURINBURG, NC—Senior David Wilson allowed just two hits Tuesday to lead the No. 32-ranked Lander baseball team to a 5-0 non-conference season-opening victory at St. Andrews College at Clark Field. (Boxscore)

Wilson (1-0) struck out six and allowed just two hits in five innings pitched.

Losing pitcher Anthony Mehling (0-1) pitched four scoreless innings for the Knights (0-1) before giving up a solo home run to designated hitter Walter Cochrane (pictured) in the top of the fifth to start the scoring. Ryan Roeder scored the Bearcats (1-0) second run on a groundout in the same inning after walking and stealing second.

Roeder crossed home plate again in the seventh inning to give Lander a 3-0 lead. Adam Hutchins and Radley Raven tacked on insurance runs for the Bearcats in the ninth with RBI singles.

Hutchins led the Bearcats with two hits and two RBI. Roeder went 1-for-2 with three runs scored.

Four different Knights got hits including a double by Will Clark
