Master of Arts in Teaching Foreign LanguageA History of Language EducationSIT believes that language and intercultural education are keys to understanding and cooperation among people. Continuing the tradition begun by The Experiment in International Living more than 70 years ago, SIT remains at the vanguard of second language learning and teaching. Building on its considerable experience, which began with the training of the earliest US Peace Corps volunteers, SIT has broadened its scope to become a professional resource for those continuing or embarking on a career in second language instruction. Having led the field in promoting the teaching of second languages to master’s degree status, SIT is an acknowledged pacesetter. With the optional combination of a Master of Arts in Teaching degree and Vermont-issued certification to teach French or Spanish in public schools, SIT graduates are able to begin their classroom teaching careers immediately. |
