Isla de Sueños (Island of Dreams) TUMI106 The famous Cuban salsa band 'Son 14' singer Rubén de Jesús Rodríguez had a great idea on a family trip to Santiago de Cuba. After seeing a local kids talent competition, he suggested to his sons Rubencito and Gabriel, aged 9 and 7 to form a band with their friend Andy, then aged 8. After months of expert tuition and rehearsals they had their first gig in the Gaviota beach Club near Varadero in June 1996. The performance was a great success and their career got off to a brilliant start.

After seeing a local kids talent competition, he suggested to his sons Rubencito and Gabriel, aged 9 and 7 to form a band with their friend Andy, then aged 9. He wants to be like Ricky Martin becauseŠ "he hasn't got a great voice, but is great on stage and conquers the audience with his charisma"Š Among the Cuban bands he naturally prefers his father's band, 'Son 14'. He gives us a naughty giggle when he admits he likes to have the girls all over him during - and after - the shows. Not surprisingly, he wants to remain famous when he grows up. Ruben's younger brother Gabriel Rodríguez is 10 and has been following his father and brother's performances around Cuba since the tender age of 6. He loves salsa becauseŠ"I feel it with my heart and makes me dance naturally'Š He admires the famous Venezuelan singer Oscar D'León. Andy Rubal is 12 and started singing at 5 in a children's group where he met Rubencito. After joining the trio, he became another member of the family. He has shared big stages with famous bands like NG La Banda and Paulito FG and has performed to great appraise on Cuban TV. 
En un viaje de recreo a Santiago de Cuba, el cantante Rubén Rodríguez, padre de Rubencito y Gabriel, propuso a sus hijos formar un grupo juvenil de salsa, al que sumaron a Andy.Su primera presentación fue el 6 de junio de 1996, en la villa turística Gaviota, ante un público que aplaudio emocionado el debut de aquel trío de niños. Aqui estan los detalles personales de los tres integrantes. Rubén Rodríguez Jnr, 12 años. Es el mayor de los niños. Sus aspiraciones iniciales eran parecerse a Ricky Martin, porque según el,: "no posee una gran voz, pero es muy explosivo en el escenario, se roba a la gente con su carisma". Entre los grupos cubanos prefiere naturalmente a Son 14, el conjunto donde canta su padre. Sonríe pícaramente cuando reconoce que disfruta la presencia de las niñas en sus conciertos. Las provoca para que se pongan felices, mientras el canta. Rubencito que el trio sea famoso cuando sean grandes. Gabriel Rodríguez, 10 años. Desde los 6 años está subido en los escenarios del pais. Su hermano mayor ya cantaba en festivales infantiles y el iba a verlo, junto a su madre. Es un enamorado de la salsa, porque "es una cosa que me entra por el corazón y me pone a bailar". Admira al famoso cantante venezolano Oscar D'León. Andy Rubal, 12 años. Con apenas 5 años empezó a cantar en una compañía de variedades infantiles, donde conoció a Rubencito. Cuando surgió la idea del trío, hablaron con sus padres y ellos aceptaron. Desde entonces se convirtió en un miembro más de la familia. Ha compartido escenarios con grandes figuras como Paulito FG y NG La Banda y en la Televisión Cubana sus presentaciones han sido un suceso nacional.
