Nepal
is one of the richest countries in the world in
term of bio-diversity due to its unique geographical
position and altitudinal variation. The elevation
of the country ranges from 60 m at sea level to
the highest point on earth, Mt. Everest at 8,848
m, all within a distance of 150 km resulting into
climate condition from sub-tropical to Arctic.
Nepal-occupying
only 0.1% of the earth - is home to:
- 2% of all flowering plants in the world;
- 8% of the world's population of birds (more
then 848 species);
-
4% of mammals on earth;
- 11 of the world's 15 families of butterfly (more
than 500 species);
- 600 indigenous plant families;
- 319 species of exotic orchids.
One
of the major tourist attractions in Nepal is Jungle
Safari:
Jungle activities here include
venture into deep jungle on elephant back or four
wheel drive to view wild animals in their natural
habitat, canoe rides or rafting on the jungle
rivers, nature walks, camping trip, bird watching,
dolphin sightseeing, fishing, tiger tracking or
wild elephant tracking, and village tour excursions

The
park is home to more than 30 different mammals, including
the Royal Bengal tiger, leopards, langur, rhesus monkeys,
civets, hyenas, wild dogs, sloth bears, otters, blue bulls,
deer & wild boars. It is a regenerated habitat for endangered
animals like the tiger, rhinoceros, wild elephant (the park
harbours the biggest wild tusker in Asia) & black buck,
Gharial & marsh mugger crocodiles the great game fish-masher
& the Gangetic dolphin cavort in the river waters. The
unique birds which number over 350 species include cormorants,
egret, storks, & endangered species such as the Bengal
florican & the
saurus crane thus making the park truly a bird watchers
paradise.

The
park is home to more than 450 endangered Asian one-horned
rhinoceros and harbours on of the largest population of
the elusive & rare Royal Bengal tiger. Besides rhino
and tiger there are four species of deer, leopards, langurs,
sloth bears, wild boars, rhesus monkeys, wild dogs, white
stocking gaurs and many other smaller animals. Gharial and
Marsh magar crocodiles cavort in the river water. The unique
birds which number over 450 species including cormorants,
egrets, stork, geese, jungle fowl, king fishers and endangered
species such as Bengal
tiger florician, Lesser florocian,
Brahmin, duck, pintails, Indian pitta & parakeets.
