Description
The VM series of mini monitors is designed to offer
extremely accurate, high-resolution sound reproduction from a attractive and
compact loudspeaker. Whether for use in traditional stereo, multi-channel home
entertainment, or any other multimedia/sound application, the VM series will
provide unprecedented audio fidelity!
The VM-3 utilizes one custom 5¼” woven carbon fiber cone
main driver, one matching 5¼” dedicated woofer, and one 1” aluminum alloy dome tweeter. The superb carbon fiber
cone is used in all of our finest
products, and enables astounding midrange articulation and remarkably powerful
bass! The aluminum tweeter is also borrowed from our highly acclaimed VR-Series
(most recently used in the VR-4 Gen. II). This driver’s low natural frequency
helps prevent the glaring coloration caused by exciting a tweeter’s resonant
frequency. Magnetic-fluid damping further reduces coloration while increasing
power handling. The rigid dome permits broad and smooth dispersion of the
uppermost octaves—nearly impossible with soft domes. The unique and meticulous
crossover circuit includes high current protection to minimize susceptibility
to damage. High-quality polypropylene and mylar capacitors are used to prevent
the glare heard from lower quality electrolytic components. Heavy gauge,
air-core inductors are also used for their superior performance.
The VM-3 is rigidly
constructed of 1” and 1-1/8” MDF with carefully placed shelf bracing to
minimize coloration due to cabinet resonance. The monitor is proportioned and
contoured to combine optimum sonic and aesthetic performance. A combination of
internal damping/absorption materials was selected to minimize noise and
optimize midrange and bass clarity. The cabinets are finished on all sides with
cherry wood veneer and available in a durable natural or red finish. A black grille is supplied.

Applications
The VM’s may be used as a stereo pair or in a complete
multi-channel application. Their flexibility is furthered by the magnetic shielding option for use near
video or computer monitors and by the bi-wire
option to allow for separate treble and midbass feeds. The units may be
placed on a stand, on a shelf, or in custom wall-unit, and may be positioned
either vertically or horizontally. Recommended amplifiers should supply 30 to
200 watts of clean power.
