Tropical downpours in Tahiti | Issued on: Fri Feb 4th 2005
This South Pacific island has been drenched recently by persistent heavy tropical showers, with 195mm being recorded in the 60 hours to 1200 GMT Friday. This is around 80 per cent of the February average of 245mm.

Northern Italy warming up | Issued on: Fri Feb 4th 2005
After the recent cold spell with frost and snow, the northern Italian city of Milan enjoyed an early taste of Spring on Thursday as the afternoon temperature rose to 16.5 Celsius, just over 8 degrees warmer than the February average of 7.9 Celsius.

Canada warmth | Issued on: Fri Feb 4th 2005
The town of Medicine Hat is tucked away in the far southeast corner of the Canadian state of Alberta. Thursday was an unusually warm day as the afternoon temperature soared to 15.6 Celsius, almost 20 degrees above the February average of minus 3.9 Celsius.

Cool and wet Cyprus | Issued on: Fri Feb 4th 2005
A slow moving depression in the eastern Mediterranean has given Cyprus a cool, breezy and wet spell. At Akrotiri in the far south of the island, temperatures have been running a few degrees below average with frequent showers, some thundery. These have now dropped 25mm of rain in the 24 hour period to 0600 GMT Friday. This is around one third of the February average.

Raoul Island downpours |Issued on: Fri Feb 4th 2005
Raoul Island is set amid the Kermadec group of islands, about 1000km to the northeast of New Zealand's North island. A slow moving tropical disturbance has drenched Raoul with 117mm of rain in the 12 hour period to 1200 GMT Friday, bringing the total to 172mm in 36 hours, well in excess of the February average of 153mm.
