SIX SIGMA TOOLS AND PROJECTSPD-Trak includes a Six Sigma project file template and Six Sigma software tools. In addition to the project file and Six Sigma project tools and templates, the overall portfolio of Six Sigma projects can be managed with the portfolio management software capabilities of PD-Trak and the resources required to support these Six Sigma projects can be managed with the resource management software capabilities of PD-Trak. The Six Sigma process defined in this template is based on a standard DMAIC (Define- Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control) process. This process and the process outputs are defined in our Task Plans and are used to help the Six Sigma project team to help plan and manage the Six Sigma project to this well-defined process. In addition to the standard PD-Trak project management tools, a comprehensive set of Six Sigma tools is included. These tools include:
SIPOC AnalysisSIPOC is an acronym for Suppliers-Inputs-Process-Outputs-Customers. SIPOC represents the "Suppliers" of a system that provide "Input" into the "Process" which produces "Output" to "Customers." The SIPOC Diagram is used to describe and bound the process under investigation and improvement. In this way, it is similar to a context diagram used with information technology projects. By describing these elements of a process, you define and gain agreement on the scope of the process under investigation. This will align team members on project scope and communicate to external sponsors the scope of the process being investigated. Stakeholder AnalysisStakeholder analysis is a technique you can use to identify and assess the key people, groups, or organizations that may significantly influence your project either positively or negatively and plan strategies to win them over. Pareto AnalysisPareto analysis is an analysis/diagramming technique that uses frequency of occurrence to identify and display results generated by each identified cause. This analysis is commonly used to decide where to apply initial effort for maximum effect. Cause and Effects AnalysisThe cause and effect or fishbone diagram illustrates the main causes and sub-causes that are believed to lead to the effect (symptom) being studied. Root Cause AnalysisRoot Cause Analysis (RCA) is a structured step by step technique for finding the underlying or "root" cause of a problem or undesirable outcome so that the root cause can be solved or prevented rather than continuing to deal with the symptoms. The goal of a Root Cause Analysis is to find out:
Process MappingThe process map or flowchart is a graphical tool for understanding an existing process or representing a new process. It represents the steps or tasks in a process, their logical relationships and the inputs and outputs for each step or task. Process DefinitionThe Process Definition template allows an existing or new process to be defined with higher-level activities, lower-level tasks, process outputs, and responsibilities.
