Cyclone Expands OEM Relationship with Entrust to Address Customers’ Growing Security Requirements

Entrust to now provide FIPS 140-2-validated security for all of Cyclone’s B2B solutions

DALLAS – Entrust, Inc. [NASDAQ: ENTU], a world-leading provider of Identity and Access Management solutions, today announced that Cyclone Commerce, which provides Smarter B2B solutions for the real-time enterprise, has expanded its use of Entrust’s cryptographic toolkits to its B2B Gateway, Cyclone Interchange®, as well as its vertical applications.

This announcement builds upon the relationship forged between Entrust and Cyclone in early 2004, which created the first electronic Controlled Substance Ordering System (CSOS) aimed at helping pharmacies, distributors, and pharmaceutical suppliers to securely automate the purchase and supply of Schedule I and II controlled substances.  This extension Cyclone’s gateway and other vertical applications offers the same strong security to a number of vertical industries – including healthcare, financial services, high tech, logistics, retail/CPG and automotive.

Cyclone provides vertical-specific applications that make it simple for organizations to extend their enterprises’ resources “outside the walls” to expedite information sharing, and have real-time visibility into key business processes, creating a competitive advantage. Until now, the Entrust Authority™ Security Toolkit for Java resided in the ‘core’ of Cyclone’s CSOS application to provide strong, FIPS 140-2 validated security. With this announcement, the Entrust® toolkit is being extended to Cyclone’s other B2B applications to provide, modular, standards-based security services, including encryption and digital signatures using X.509 managed certificates.

“Strong, certificate-based security is a requirement for CSOS and for Cyclone’s other solutions because these solutions represent the means by which some of the world’s leading brands optimize critical B2B business processes,” said Charles Hoppensteadt, vice president of solutions delivery for Cyclone. “We chose Entrust because the capabilities are easy to integrate, consistent security and interoperability is simple to achieve.”

“Increasingly organizations are looking for stronger security in order to address corporate compliance requirements for protecting sensitive information. B2B transaction oriented systems, such as CSOS are good examples of where we are seeing this trend,” said Eric Skinner, Vice President, Secure Data Solutions at Entrust. “Entrust is proud to have expanded our relationship with Cyclone to now provide FIPS 140-2-validated security to Cyclone’s B2B applications in order to help create a comprehensive security environment for Cyclone’s rapidly growing customer base.”
