I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE - HIT MUSICAL COMEDY HEATS UP THE
BELFRY STAGE FROM AUGUST 3- 21

"Smashing! A delightful marriage of music and comedy about sex, love and dating. The humor and entertainment don't let up for an instant!"
The Los Angeles Times

Victoria, BC...From August 3 - 21, 2004 the Belfry Theatre will present the Prairie Theatre Exchange production of the hit musical comedy, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change (Book and Lyrics by Joe DiPietro and Music by Jimmy Roberts).

I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change is
directed by Robert Metcalfe with musical direction by Tusia Kozub and stars Donna Fletcher, Jennifer Lyon, Carson Nattrass and Denis Simpson.

The longest running musical revue in New York history, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change pays tribute to those who have loved and lost; to those who have fallen on their face at the portal of romance; and to those who have dared ask, "Say, what are you doing Saturday night?"

This celebration of the mating game takes on the truths and myths behind that contemporary conundrum known as "the relationship". First stop is
the singles scene - from dating and waiting, to the inevitable and inescapable "date from hell". Will he/she call - and do you care? And then on to Phase II: love and marriage. It's all about the agonies and
triumphs of in-laws and newborns, trips in the family car and the surrender of your love life to the exhaustion of parenting. And it's about the moment that a man looks at his sleeping spouse of fifty years
and wonders why, after all that time, he loves her no less than when they began.

I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change was originally produced in New York by James Hammerstein, Bernie Kukoff & Jonathan Pollard with
original direction by Joel Bishoff. Originally produced by the American Stage Company James N. Vagias, Executive Producer.

I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change features the talents of Brian Perchaluk (Set & Costume Designer) and Ereca Hassell (Lighting Designer). Georgette Nairn is the Stage Manager with Assistant Stage
Manager Valerie Houle.

I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change is generously supported by Allison Piano, CH TV, Times Colonist, The Canada Council for the Arts, CRD Arts and the BC Arts Council.

Tickets range in price from $20 - $25, depending on the show you attend, and can be purchased by visiting or calling the Belfry Box Office at
250-385-6815. Discounts for groups of 10 or more are available.

For more information contact:

"Old Salts" Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

A show and sale of new paintings by Ron Stacy.
Aug 1-15, open til 5 pm daily

Ahoy! Local artist and gadfly Ron Stacy is pleased to present a new series of maritime paintings that celebrate the boats, coast and lives of this picturesque community. Discover the fascinating heritage working boats and beachcomb through the flotsam and jetsam lovingly portrayed in oils and canvas.

"Old Salts" is the launch of a new creative direction for this well known artist and art teacher.  Ron's love of story-telling and penchant for dramatic images are strongly presented here, reminiscent of his popular paintings, prints and carvings of masks, totems and mythic characters of the 90's.

Each painting is a beautiful portrait of West Coast life that is uniquely hand-framed in character "peeling paint" and "driftwood" faux finishes. Enjoy this intimate exhibition at Stacy Studio, the friendly seaside gallery in Sidney-by-the-Sea.

General News

Ottawa, June 14, 2004

Now that all the parties have issued their official platforms, and given the horse race that is unfolding, there is a palpable feeling of foreboding among Canadians who support the arts. Having learned that there are no questions on the arts, culture or heritage in the leaders' debate, CCA has set out some questions of its own.

Three sets of questions for the Liberals:
