dirty three Los Lobos Harvest Festival

dig Review:
The Dirty Three

It's the first of our series of graphic reviews by Dennis Bacalhau. The Dirty Three are one of those bands who only play a tiny number of gigs, but almost every one lives on in rumour and legend long after the event. This was their only Sydney show, so come along for the ride. More...

MORE REVIEWS, FEATURES AND CONCERTS:

Live At The Fillmore - 31/01/2005
More than two decades after they won Band-of-the-Year honours in the Rolling Stone critics' poll, East LA's Los Lobos remain one of the most respected bands in the world. Their first DVD is culled from two recent sold-out nights at San Francisco's fabled Fillmore auditorium.

The Harvest Festival - 28/01/2005
A small, perhaps even boutique, alt.country festival outside Melbourne with The Handsome Family, The Sand Pebbles, Conway Savage, Jon Langford and Sally Timms, Lisa Miller and others.

Live In Providence - 27/01/2005
A long awaited DVD from Richard Thompson

Cohen's Flowers Blooming In Australia - 25/01/2005
dig draws your attention to some of the medium and smaller names playing the Leonard Cohen show in Sydney, but are doing side shows.

Dirty Three: The Graphic Review - 21/01/2005
The first of a series of comic strip reviews by Dennis Bacalhau - The Dirty Three playing in Sydney's Hyde Park Barracks on the thirteenth of January.

Live: The Handsome Family - 18/01/2005
The Handsome Family is part of that rare stream of country music that's literate and funny while staying a little bit strange and a whole lot good.

Live: Bebel Gilberto - 13/01/2005
She was born in New York, where it's cold. But really, she comes from Brazil - where it's hot...

Live: Carl Pannuzzo & Jo Jo Smith - 12/01/2005
One of the untold stories of Australian music is the number of fantastic musicians who tour the world, pick up huge profiles overseas yet remain almost unknown at home.

If you've already heard of Carl Pannuzzo or Jo Jo Smith you'll probably have already stopped reading and clicked the links to listen, but if you're here because of curiosity then you're in for a treat.

Live: Jaimi Faulkner In Studio - 11/01/2005
It's always nice to get a CD with a catalogue number that reads like an Ian Fleming character; 006, 003 or, like Jaimi's, 004.

Why? A low number like 004 generally means that it's a been made by a small record company (often the artist themself); one that puts music out, not in the sole pursuit of a huge amount of money, but because the music should be heard.

The Supergroups In The Running - 10/01/2005
We asked all you diggers to put together your supergroups; pick the best bassists, best guitarists, drummers, keyboard players and any other players.
