1. Once we've booked and paid deposit, is the price then set?
> Yes, definately.
2. Is it cool/windy due to hillside location?
> During high Summer(August) it does get very warm(35c+) and the
position of the house on the hillside does help keep it cool. Wind is
only a problem apparently in the Winter. Weve not noticed any problems
but we've only been there during the 6 months of summer.
3. Is the landscaped garden lawn or pebbles?
>The property is on an incline so there is no real patches of lawn.
The garden is rocks walls and plants mostly. There is a nice patio area
outside the Games room that is good for games though.
4. Is the villa overlooked from higher up the hill?
> No, It is actually not possible to over look it. The people behind
are dead jealous.
5. Is there an extra charge for the air conditioning?
> No, we would like you to turn it off when you are not in the villa
though. Environmentaly friendly and saves us some money
6. Are the maps & road signs easy to read for non-Turkish speakers?
> Id say so. There are not that many main roads and everytown is
clearly signposted. The Turkish language is all English characters.
If you are planning on driving from the airport in a hire car follow
the signs for Fethiye then Kalkan. Many people do it so it and I've
not heard any complaints..
7. What currency should we bring?
> There is 1 bank(Deniz Bank near the entrance to town) here and
I suggest that you bring a Visa card and use your PIN. Its the cheapest
way to get money out because you don't get charged as much as a money
changers migth charge. Its also easy and safe. I travel a lot and thats
all i ever take. If you do need to change money the Bank and the Post
Office(PTT) both change money.
8. On 1 of the sites it mentions there may be occasional noise. Please
advise.
> Noise stops from the 31st of April to the 1st of November. They
are very strict on this as tourism is there new economy. All the buildings
around us are completed and there is no noise. There is still building
going on in different areas of Kalkan but no heavy noise. Mostly tiling
and painting.
9. Please confirm the price quoted is for the whole villa as we don't
want to share.
> It is only one villa and its all yours. he he! People around think
that because its so big it must be flats.
10. The photo's look to show a drop round some edges of the pool with
no guard rail. How far is the drop & what's on the other side? (Although
we have no infants, children are always prone to find danger).
> It was a drop edge pool. It is no longer as I considered it unsafe.
There are now big plant pots in the way to stop anyone from being able
to get to the edge. It is hard to get out of the pool and onto this
edge. Its about 10 ft drop from the top to the ground. Anyone wishing
to fall will probably land on a bush.
11. Is the private courtyard in the gardens or part of the roof?
> There are a few private spaces. The Courtyard in the middle of
the house is private. There is a Hammock in a peaceful covered space
underneath the pool terrace. See our photos
12. If we don't hire a car (the costs are a lot higher than Spain
& Portugal) are there still plenty of restaurants and shops close
by?
> I didn't know the hire costs. What are they? You can hire a basic
5 seater car in town for about £25-30 a day
(Click here for more car hire information). As we are on a slope
and you will be here in August when its hot I recomend walking down
the hill to town and catching a taxi back. Its about £2. In town
there are easily over 100 restaurants. The supermarket is not too far
away and they will deliver with you in the car even for free. The town
is criss crossed with all sorts of shops from Quicksilver to Handpainted
craftware and thongs. Kas is down the road and provides a good day out.
13. Do you consider the pool definitely big enough for the children
to swim around in or is it more of a splash pool?
> Definately not a lap pool, but i think its good for messing around
in. Dont, loose the ball or you have to go down and get it though :)
14. What entertainment is there?
> Large TV with Satelite and 5 speaker Surround sound stereo system.
Able to play DVDs,VCDs and MP3s. Play Station 2 with latest games. There
is a large Games room with a full size pool table and a quality ping
pong table.
15. Can you describe the pool?
The pool is 6.6m long x 3.6 wide x 1.6m deep with circular steps in
one corner. They are good for sitting on when it gets to hot. Your back
is to the house and you have amazing views over the pool and the ocean.
16. What entertainment is available close by for children (ages 11,
14 & 15)?
> Should be fun for you.
Outdoors - Loads of water sports available at the harbour. You can go
snorkling and diving. There is a basket ball court down the road. You
would have to drive 5 minutes to get to the tennis courts. There are
a lot of day trips including an amazing 12km+ gorge that you can explore.
They also do trips down the river on large rubber rings. You can have
lunch over wooden platforms built over rapids. Historically there are
loads of things to run around and explore. Large amphitheatres and ruins
to run around.
There is a 17km beach close by where the giant turtles come to nest
all the way from Mexico. Not sure you’ll be here at the right
time.
Indoors - see question 14
17. ok, so you have a very cool website and you abound with information.
BUT.... what prongs does the electricity have? french ones or US ones.?
I want to know if my hair dryer will function to top capacity.
> Euro two prongs is the way forward. There are a few adapters scattered
around the house though so I am sure your hair will look pretty swell
:)
18. please could you tell me if the price is per person or per party?
> The price is for the entire villa. 1 person to 10, its up to you.
