Daily Moon Phases Free Modules

How to get the Daily Moon Phases (Current Phase) Module

If you'd like to check the moon phases every day, here is a handy little module for you to add to your website (or to bookmark). You can actually check it anytime not just once daily, as it gives the current moon at any given moment. For more detailed, more accurate moon data including past and future phases, look at the Pro version of QuickPhase, a moon phases calendar application.

To add a moon phases module to your website, use the form below. Simply choose the module you want, then click "Show Module and Get HTML". Then highlight ALL the HTML, copy, and paste it wherever you want it to appear on your webpage.

I highly recommend you register below. It's not required, but it is the only way I can reach you if I make an important update to the code -- which affects how it is displayed on your site.
If you would like to donate (any amount) to this project, please click this button:

  • This module, design, and code is copyrighted, and the "moon phases" text link MUST remain unaltered. By using this module, you agree to these terms.

  • Also, this module may not be used on adult-content webpages or websites.

  • Questions and Answers

Q: What time zone are the phase calculations based on?
A: Short answer: YOUR time zone. The calculations are based on your computer's clock, which is assumed to be correctly set for your time zone (date and time). Your website visitors will see the module based on THEIR time zone (their computer's clock). Also, this means that if your computer settings are off by, let's say, 1 day, then the moon module will also be off by 1 day for you! (Yes, it has happened to folks before, whatever the cause). On Windows, double-clicking the time display in the bottom system tray brings up your current settings.

Q: The moon isn't showing up. I'm sure I copied all the code exactly as shown above. What is wrong?
A: This rarely happens -- the module is very simple to add to your site and works 99% of the time. Sometimes website-editing software can mess up the code, but most likely the problem is that your webhost does not allow 3rd party Javascript, which is required for this module to work. This occasionally happens with free website providers, and sometimes with weblogs ... but try it out before coming to that conclusion. If you are seeing a black box area but no moon, you can be almost certain it is your webhost blocking the Javascript. Contact your webhost to verify.

Q: Can I change the appearance of the module?
A: Currently, the moon's background color (black) cannot change, but I may create that customization option in the future. If you know some HTML or CSS, it is possible to make minor style changes. But in all cases, the "moon phases" text link must remain unaltered. Also, the Javascript base code must remain unaltered and hosted at CalculatorCat.com. If you would like something different, contact me (see form below) for suggestions or permission. I'd like to know what is most useful to you!

Q: I don't have a website. Can I view the daily moon phases another way?
A: You can check the moon phases any time you are connected to the internet by visiting this link: http://www.calculatorcat.com/moon_phases/phasenow.php For convenience, you can bookmark it using your browser's menu.

    Register, Comment

Please fill out this form so I can notify you if I change any of the code in the module.

Also, I also may send you a note if any other really cool stuff is added to the site, or special discounts on any software I make. Really I don't send much email; when I do, it's important and will be of interest to you. But if you want only the module change updates, just uncheck the box.

Your email address will be kept absolutely private and never revealed or given to 3rd parties!

I read and appreciate every comment but due to time constraints, I can't promise a reply to this form. If you need me to reply, please fill out the form below, then send me another message here.
