Outdoors Conference

The National Outdoor Conference Committee invites you to join them

at the Radisson Resort,

Palm Meadows,

Gold Coast, Queensland,

for the 14th National Outdoor Conference to be held

from Sunday 3rd July to Wednesday

6th July 2005.

‘The challenges we face’ conference

is the national conference of the

Outdoor Council of Australia, the

national peak body for outdoor

recreation and outdoor education.

The conference committee consists

of representatives from the

Queensland Outdoor Recreation

Federation (QORF),

 and the Outdoor Educator’s

Association of Queensland

(OEAQ).

The outdoor community is

experiencing dynamic times with

changes to both legislation,

professional requirements, and

increased demands upon the

environmental setting of education

 and recreation. In addition, the

nature of the Australian society

is changing as each generation

has particular characteristics that

pose unique challenges for both

outdoor recreation and education

provision.

Thus the conference theme of “

the challenges we face” in the

outdoor community. It is hoped

that the papers, workshops and forums at the conference can help

participants, practitioners,

programmers and managers

navigate through the challenging

aspects facing the contemporary

Australian outdoor field.

To enable this, the conference

will be structured so that there will

be the usual presentation of papers

as well as sufficient time allocated

for structured forums and informal

 gatherings between sessions.

One needs a laugh .

The 3 wise men turn up to visit the new born baby in the manger.

One of them is very tall and bangs his head on the doorway on the way in.

'Jesus Christ' he exclaims,

to which Joseph replies, 'Write that down Mary,....... I like that better than Colin.

From our Message Board or email:

Hi Gerry.

Without a doubt, this is the most interesting and informative web-site that I have ever seen, and I have learnt

a tremendous lot from it. Congratulations ... and "well-done". Best regards Philip Markland,  England.

Absolutely phenomenal outdoor site. Thanks for the information. I haven't made it to Australia ... yet ... but you really make my mind swirl about camping, backpacking, hiking and fishing in your country. One of my favorites is boat camping. Spending some time on the water and then unloading the camping tent. Bring along a Dutch oven, some fabulous Dutch oven recipes, and now we're talking. All the best ... Pam, United States

I'm not computer savvy but I am a bloody good bushman. Over time I have visited all the Australian hunting, fishing, touring and adventure websites and believe that your Australian Outdoors site leaves all others for dead. Great stuff indeed. Keith.

Consider this scenario

(you never know, it might just happen to you)

You are flying overseas to visit friends or relatives. You fall asleep for hours during the flight.

You wake up and head for the toilet. After doing the necessary you push the button and without

any warning the floor disappears and you find yourself falling through the air. Your survival instinct kicks in and you

immediately place your head between your legs to decrease your size and wind resistance.

This you know will speed up your fall and speed you to your inevitable demise.

You brace yourself as your life flashes before you and wished you had not stole your brothers favourite frog.

You wonder if the Airline company will give you a refund for the part of the journey that you have

not completed, but that thought quickly leaves your mind.

With your head between your legs you see the ground rushing up to meet and destroy you.

In this position, you kiss your bum goodbye as you know it is the last thing you will see.

Then surprise surprise, you find yourself crashing through the branches of pine trees on the side of a very steep

mountain covered in snow. Your speed is slowed considerably and you are thrown from the branches onto

the side of the deeply snowed mountain and still going down at a much slower pace again.

You are now sliding down a very clear slope that is getting less and less steep. You come to a stop at the snow line.

You lie there for 30 min afraid and totally awed and disoriented. You gingerly arise and test your body for damage

and find to your absolute amazement, that apart from a few cuts and bruises you are in quite good condition.

You have absolutely nothing with you besides the clothes on your body (the Airlines policy even took your lighter).

You head further down the mountain untill the weather is milder and dry.

You have no idea where you are and in what direction you can find help.

Then, like an Arch Angel, a website called www.australianoutdoors.com comes to mind.

Then within no time at all you have a fire.

What a great website this is, hey!!

us and tell us what you think of this website.

Thank you very much for visiting and have a great time during your visit with us.

How to make a fire rubbing sticks together

I aim to make this website as Australian as possible and totally Outdoors and associated areas.

For this, I need all the help I can get.

We have a great country and a unique lifestyle. I want to tell the world.

I want to help get the dollars ‘rolling’ in to Australia (Tourism) and help

us get back the standard (quality) of living back again, to what it once was.

For us and our children.
