Bus Warsaw
has an extensive tram and bus network as well as a metro that runs from the city
centre to Ursynów (south west).
Two more stations have been opened
recently: Ratusz and Swietokrzyska. This means the metro now covers the area up
to pl. Bankowy.
Over 1,200 buses operate in and around Warsaw and most
operate from around 05:00 until about 23:00.
'Fast buses' (the ones with
red numbers) circulate between 04:30 and 23:30, while night-buses (start with
the N°. 6 followed by a two digit number) can be caught between 23:30 and
05:30. Tickets (all valid for use on either bus, tram or metro) can be bought
at every kiosk displaying the green and yellow RUCH logo as well as the ZTM office
on pl. Bankowy.
Nowadays you can also buy a ticket directly from the drivers.
This will set you back an extra 0.60zl. (but don't expect them to have change).
Remember
that you'll need an extra ticket for bulky luggage and/or any large pets you're
thinking of bringing along. Anything over 60 by 40 by 20cm will be considered
bulky.
You must validate your ticket once you board a tram or bus. The
system of electronic cancelling machines is already in place at place, so you
have to validate the ticket when you get on board.

If
you're travelling on an InterRail ticket then you still need to make a reservation.
