AdmissionsSIT Admissions Counselors work with individual applicants from initial inquiry to arrival on campus. Their job is to assist prospective students with the admissions process and inform them of what they can expect from an SIT education and what SIT will expect of them as students. Professional experience, academic ability, career goals, cross-cultural experiences, ability to work well with others, adaptability, ability to analyze cross-cultural and professional experiences, and learning style are considered when reviewing an applicant's folder. A variety of methods are used to assess these qualities, including essay, review of past academic performance, references, and personal interview. Once all your application materials have been received, the Admissions Committee will review your folder for a decision. All applicants are encouraged to visit the SIT campus, if possible. Interviews are required for Master of Arts in Teaching applicants and are strongly encouraged for all other SIT degree applicants. When your application is complete, an Admissions Counselor will contact you to arrange a personal or telephone interview. Unless you are a native speaker, Master of Arts in Teaching applicants who plan to concentrate in a foreign language are required to have an oral language proficiency interview conducted in the foreign language in addition to the admissions interview.
Note for participants who come to the U.S. on an F-1 or J-1 visa: SIT is authorized under federal law to enroll nonimmigrant students. |
