Shark Reef offers up a breathtaking aquarium facility as well as a comprehensive educational program for students of all ages. This special program includes a one-hour guided tour of the aquarium facility as well as a one-hour classroom session led by a team of biologists and educators. Two educational sessions are conducted daily Monday through Friday.

Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay recently added a great hammerhead shark to its two million gallon aquarium facility. Shark Reef is the first closed system aquarium in the world to successfully acquire and display a great hammerhead shark.

Insider Tips

Shark Reef now offers guests an informative lecture series called "Tours & Tales." The program, which includes a tour followed by a classroom presentation, is held the first and third Wednesday of each month, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Cost is $24.95 (includes a souvenir photo).

The heaviest animal in the Shark Reef is the Green Sea Turtle, which weighs more than 300 pounds.

Shark Reef features more than 2,000 aquatic animals from the world's tropical waters, including 15 different species of sharks.
