I. How to Login to your courses: [ for RODP Courses go HERE ]

1. Before you can Login, you must know your ETSU assigned Email address. To find your ETSU assigned email address,

  • Go to http://www.etsu.edu

  • Look for the "Enter Search Term" Search area on the top right hand side of the page. Type your last name in the box and select the type of search "People Finder" text and click "Go". Note: It usually takes between two and four days after you register for your name to appear in the search.

  • When you are listed, you will see an email address, such as zez123@imail.etsu.edu. Your Username(Login ID) is the part that precedes the "@imail.etsu.edu". In this example it would be zez123. Your password is your Student Number(ID)

  • To Login

The process is slightly different depending upon the web browser you are using and whether you are logging in from within the campus network or from off campus. These instructions apply to those who are connecting from off campus and those who are not using Internet Explorer, regardless of their location. Instructions for those connecting from on campus using Internet Explorer are available here.

    Step One:
    Click the Blackboard Login button.

    Step Two:
Once you click the Login button you will see a pop-up that looks like one of the following:

If you are using Windows XP

    your Login screen will look

    like this.

    Notice that you need to

    precede your user name

    with “etsu\”

If you are using Windows 2000

,  your login screen will look

     like this.

Notice that you need to enter

     ETSU as the domain.

You are being asked for your ETSU user name and password, the same combination that you use to check your ETSU email (students: this is your z-name and password). After you type the required information, click “OK”

    Step Three:
After successfully completing step two, you will be taken to this screen:

Enter your username. This should be the same username you use to check your ETSU email. Then enter the password that you previously used to enter Blackboard (i.e. in previous semesters). If you have never used Blackboard before, this will be your social security number. Click the “Login” button.

    Congratulations!
Your Blackboard account is now reconciled with ETSU’s active directory system. From now on, you will use your ETSU username and password to login to Blackboard.

  • When you Login, you are in the "My ETSU/Bb (large download to view example)" area that contains a list of courses in which you are registered that use Blackboard , as well as a number of student tools you can use.

  • Your Blackboard Courses are listed under the My Courses area. To enter a course, click on the course listed in the My Courses area.

2. After you have Logged into a Bb  course in which you are enrolled, you must Log Out and close the browser when you have finished your work. If you do not Log out and close the browser  another person using the same PC may be able to enter the course under your username and password. Each student is responsible for the work posted under his/her username and password.

3. Enrolled students will generally be able to access Bb courses a few days before the beginning of the term.

4. You must "Activate" your ETSU assigned Email. See How.
