Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island:
Needing no introduction, the Statue of Liberty has for decades
been one of the nation's leading attractions. People from
all over the world have come to see her, the very symbol of
what America is all about. In addition, a Museum in the pedestal
includes exhibits on immigration that recall through words,
objects, and photographs the arrival of millions of new Americans.
An exhibit on the Statue explains how it was conceived and
constructed. It's a great place for a family outing and will
create a memory to last a lifetime. The National Park Service
offers Public Tours outdoors from April 1 through October
31. Indoor Museum tours are conducted from November 1 through
March 31. Tours are conducted on a first-come, first-served
basis and availability depends on current staffing levels.
Each tour last approximately 30 minutes. Call (212)

Taste
New York at Grimaldi's Pizzeria:
Undoubtedly worth the wait in line and the hassles of having
to hit an ATM before you get there. The atmosphere: Red and
white checked tablecloths, Sinatra or Pavarotti emanate from
the jukebox, and photographs of Sinatra, Brando and other
famous Italians cover the walls. A perfectly casual setting,
as suited for families and groups as it is for couples (this
pizza is SURE to dazzle any date). The pizza is thin-crust,
coal-oven pizza at its best -- the sauce is smoky and has
delicious chunks of tomato as well as fresh herbs; home-made
fresh mozzarella tops the pie; and the range of toppings includes
everything from sweet Italian sausage to roasted red peppers
made in Grimaldi's famous ovens.
The Lion King Broadway Show, New Amsterdam Theatre:
Giraffes strut, birds swoop, gazelles leap! The entire savanna
comes to life and, as the music soars, Pride Rock slowly rises
out of the stage. This is “The Lion King.” Marvel
at the breathtaking spectacle of animals miraculously brought
to life “in a blaze of fabulous imagination”*
by a cast of over 40 actors. Thrill to the pulsating rhythms
of the African Pridelands and an unforgettable score including
Elton John and Tim Rice's Oscar® -winning "Can You
Feel the Love Tonight" and songs by South African composer
Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, Julie Taymor, and Hans Zimmer.
Treat yourself and your friends and family to a memory that
will last a lifetime at the musical Time Magazine calls “awe-inspiring!
A gorgeous, gasp-inducing spectacle!"

Central Park Zoo:
Just steps off Fifth Avenue there’s an oasis of wildlife:
WCS’s jewel in Manhattan, the Central Park Zoo. Journey through
a steamy rain forest that’s home to tropical birds, rare monkeys,
and fascinating reptiles and amphibians. Chill out with penguins
in an icy Antarctic habitat. Or soak up some sun outside,
at our ever-popular sea lion feedings. The zoo leads you through
these tropic, temperate, and polar habitats to encounter more
than 1,400 animals of 130-plus species from tremendous polar
bears to tiny leafcutter ants. In the new Tisch Children’s
Zoo, little animal lovers can meet a host of gentle creatures
up-close.
Dinner at Angelica’s Kitchen: EAST VILLAGE. The line out the door will show you that vegans and carnivores agree – Angelica Kitchen is a wonderful dining experience. Anyone worried that vegetarian fare isn't filling hasn't tried the sweet potato croquettes flavored with pecans, garlic, fennel and caraway, with an onion-dill glaze. Other filling favorites are the hot, open-faced tempeh sandwich and the “dragon bowl” composed of steamed sea veggies, rice, beans and tofu. Don’t forget to save room for the delectable desserts – the lemon-almond torte wins raves among regulars.
Treat the Kids at FAO Swartz: Come visit the Ultimate Toy Store - an experience unlike any other! As a leading specialty seller of toys and collectibles in the United States, FAO is a mecca for toy lovers from all over the world.
Day 3
The American Museum of Natural History
is one of the most fascinating places to spend a day, an afternoon
or even just a few hours. If you like to read about everything
you are looking at, well then, plan on spending a few days
to visit the museum. There is so much to do and see in this
place, your head will start hurting after only a few hours
of just trying to digest all the information thrown your way.
The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world's
preeminent institutions for scientific research and education,
with collections of more than 32 million specimens and artifacts.
This incredible institution brings all aspects of the natural
sciences to life.
Dinner at Angus McIndoe: This is a restaurant smack in the middle of Manhattan that people never, ever get tired of visiting. It has a huge, diverse menu, to satisfy every taste at every meal. The constantly changing daily menu ensures that regular patrons never get bored. It’s not expensive or formal because frankly, expensive, formal places aren't the owner’s thing. However, the Angus McIndoe does have a carefully thought out wine list with selections from all over the world, and does have a great selection of beers on tap.
See
all of New York City form the Empire State Building:
At Fifth Avenue and 34th Street stands New York City’s most
famous fixture - starring in over 90 movies, a star of gigantic
proportions. Once again the world’s tallest skyscraper in
NYC (it was for 40 years until they built the World Trade
Center) the symbol of this city was constructed in only two
years - 1930 to 31 and the 1,453 foot colossus instantly became
a tourist magnet. Even King Kong came to visit!
