Never More

There's a train in the station just across from the bar
Where old timers gather to speak of Never More.
Women, they are knitting, just to pass the time of day,
Don't know what they're making, there's not much one can say.

Never More, Never More, yeah,
The town of Never More.
Progress took the children,
Now who will mind the store?
Never More, Never More,
The town of Never More,
Progress took the children
And the town she be No More.

The streets are lying empty,
with echoes of the past.
Children took the train and
The skies are overcast.
Dust is kind of choking
as the wind is on the rise.
Old dogs keep on sleeping
Best to let them lie.

Never More, Never More, yeah,
The town of Never More.
Progress took the children,
Now who will mind the store?
Never More, Never More,
The town of Never More,
Progress took the children
And the town she be No More.

There's a train in the station,
and you hear the whistle blow,
No one comes a runnin'
There's no one left to go.
Cars are sittin' empty,
As you hear the "All Aboard!"
No one's takin' passage,
and the old one's can't afford.

Never More, Never More, yeah,
The town of Never More.
Progress took the children,
Now who will mind the store?
Never More, Never More,
The town of Never More,
Progress took the children
And the town she be No More.

The train leaves the station
And the old men walk away,
Wonder where they're goin'?
Wonder why they stay?
Women bring the clothes in,
Think it's going to rain,
There's silence on the streets since,
The children took that train.
