Get to Know Dillon Colorado
Dillon Colorado
The Town of Dillon began as a trading post and stage stop and was incorporated in 1883. The Town has never stayed put since its incorporation and has moved three times. Once to be nearer to the railroad; a second time to be between the Blue, the Ten Mile, and the Snake rivers. The third and final move was declared in 1956 by the Denver Water Board when it told The Town of Dillon they were located where the soon to be LAKE Dillon would be located. The Town of Dillon has remained in its final location along the shore of the Lake Dillon Reservoir.
Dillon Summers are first rate family fun with boating access to beautiful Lake Dillon offering world class sailing, boat rentals, sailing instruction, racing regattas and the highest yacht club in North America, at over 9,000 feet in elevation, the Dillon Yacht Club. Mountain activities and sports including championship trout fishing are steps into Dillon’s backyard the National Forest. Miles of paved bike path circles the Lake while mountain-biking, rafting, fishing, hiking, horseback riding and camping are all around the lake shore. Relax and listen to the Free Nature Nights, or stroll the Friday Farmers Markets and recline during the concerts at the open-air Lake Dillon Amphitheatre.
