Secure Data Solution

Organizations today depend on applications, networks and devices to help them create business value, such as collaborate with partners, negotiate with vendors, or strategize and plan for the entire future of their organization.

These common systems are home to the organization's most important assets - its intellectual property (including sales forecasts, product and strategic plans), as well as any sensitive data entrusted to the organization by its employees, customers and partners.

To guard their competitive advantage and enable new products and offerings, governments and enterprises require security solutions that extend beyond the perimeter to protect their data 'end-to-end', both in transit and while 'at rest' on the organization's networks, databases and servers.

Legislative Pressures

The rise in information theft and the continued threats of cyber attacks have led to legislations demanding stronger internal controls and information privacy among government agencies and enterprises. California SB 1386, for instance, requires organizations to notify their customers if any unencrypted personal data has been accessed by an unauthorized party. To avoid potential class action lawsuits, as well as the damage to their brand and image, organizations need to implement strong data access controls, and enforce data privacy and integrity using encryption and digital signatures.

Companies that fail to address the security issues that affect distributed computing environments will see the cost of desktop security incident management rise by 30 per cent or more annually, as the number of attacks continue to increase through at least 2005. A single security breach related to regulation or legislation can put companies at significant risk of a significant financial loss or public relations disaster. The Entrust Secure Data Solution consists of a comprehensive, highly scalable suite of data security products and services that help organizations mitigate the risk of data loss, corruption and disclosure so they can confidently capitalize on new technologies that enable secure employee mobility, greater stakeholder collaboration and, ultimately, business growth. The solution also helps organizations abide by new legislative regulations that mandate stronger data security controls, without unduly burdening the people and processes that make use of this critical data.

With Entrust, organizations can realize the promise of secure data through:

  • Encryption - delivers privacy by protecting data from end-to-end
  • Authentication - strongly identifies the requesting user, device or application before releasing sensitive data
  • Policy-based access control - manages individual user access rights to data and applications based on corporate policy
  • Digital signatures - improves accountability for data transactions; protects the integrity of data involved in a transaction
  • Content analysis - enables the identification of data that need protecting, based on corporate policy
