Disperse dyes are classified into four groups ¨CE, SE, S
and P according to their dyeing and fastness properties
on polyester fiber. The significance of each group is considered
in detail in the following sections.
Group
E Type 1. excellent carrier-dyeing behavior and
high-temperature dyeing behavior
2. good light fastness
3. moderate heat fastness
4. suitable for dyeing acetate, triacetate, polyester/cellulose,
polyester/wool blends and polyamide fibers
5. low energy level dyestuffs
Group
SE Type 1. higher heat fastness than that of Group
E
2. fairly good dyeing properties
3. can be applied to various dyeing methods
4. suitable for dyeing acetate, triacetate, polyester/cellulose,
polyester/wool blends and polyamide fibers
5. medium energy level dyestuffs
Group
S Type 1. very high heat fastness
2. relatively poor dyeing properties
3. suitable for high-temperature dyeing methods and pad-thermolsol
dyeing
4. high energy level dyestuffs
Group
P Type 1. good heat fastness
2. suitable for direct printing with super heated stream
