Christmas Shopping the
Traditional way.....
You're cold, you're wet, you
can't find anywhere to park, the bus is late, the bus is
full and you can't get on, the shops are crowded, you
can't get to the counter to see the goods,
you get elbowed and trampled on, you're last in the long
queue at the check-out, the shopping gets heavier,
you're tired, you're hungry, there are long queues at
the restaurants, the pub is jam-packed and smoke-filled,
you can't remember where you parked the car, you haven't got
any change for the meter, no-one else has any change,
everybody looks miserable and hassled, you can't find the loo,
it's raining again ....... sound familiar.
Christmas Shopping
the Modern way.....
You adjust the central
heating to a comfortable level, you get yourself a drink -
tea, beer or your favourite tipple, you grab a bag of your favourite
flavoured crisps, you sit in your relaxing chair, you
switch on the computer,
you login to your favourite
shopping site - which is
www.oyster.cc , isn't it ! ( Hope you saved it in your
"Favourites". ) Not too difficult so far... You
leisurely browse and shop at all those stores you would otherwise
have trudged round...... and a whole lot more, you are the
only person in the check-out queue, you make your purchase,
you switch off the computer, you go back to doing whatever you
were doing before. Now, how easy is that !
So how will you be doing your
Christmas shopping this year ?
At Christmas time your
credit card can take a severe battering, but you can avoid the usual overspend
and crippling debts in the New Year with a few simple strategies.
1) Try to make a list of people you want to buy for and what
presents you would like to buy them. 2)
Internet shopping could be the perfect solution for you, especially if you do
not enjoy the crowds and the hassle - or perhaps you simply do not have time
during the day to browse the shops.
3) Shopping online can save you money - many
internet retailers offer good deals, free shipping, gift wrapping and
personalizing gifts.
4) Try to do your shopping early - the post
is always slower at this time of year - you want to make sure you get everything
in time. 5) It's not important to
give everyone expensive gifts, give thoughtfully - it has far more value.
Do try to stay within your budget, do not spoil
your Christmas worrying about how to pay the bills - worry about how
you are going to enjoy yourself.
