The Coastal Bend Guides Association is a professional, nonprofit organization designed for the purpose of increasing the responsibility of the guiding profession and the involvement of guides in the local community. The association was founded in 1989. Prior to 1989 the Texas Parks in Wildlife had little opposition when attempting to pass legislation. Today the Texas Parks and Wildlife request the organizations approval before passing laws that directly affect the outdoor industries. This has evolved into a solid working partnership. The organization also participates in community activities and is a vital provider to the Driscoll Children's Hospital and the South Texas Children's Home. Members are bound to uphold the code of ethics which includes but not limited to: - Following all game management laws - Obey all regulations of the USCG - Obtain proper licensing and conscientiously renew and maintain licenses. - Refuse alcohol consumption - Respect the environment - Provide professional services and remain vigilant as to never endanger the safety and welfare of the passengers - Provide our clients with quality outdoor entertainment within the bounds ethics, safety, and reason. - Refuse to promote any person attempting to provide illegal guide services. - Remain intolerant of irresponsible, unsafe, or illegal acts by any passengers in our vessel. |
