Advocacy Programs ADVOCACY & OUTREACH The Newfoundland Historic Trust since the early seventies has attempted to encourage restoration and ensure appropriate development in the downtown area of St. John's, and across the province. The Trust submitted papers at the Plan 91 and Hibernia Hearings and lobbied for the restoration of the O’Dwyer Block. As well we spoke out strongly against the building of T.D. Place and Atlantic Place. The Trust also played an important role in the establishment of organizations such as the Newfoundland Heritage Foundation, the St. John’s Heritage Foundation and the Newfoundland Historic Parks Association.
