unlike my first trip report last year which was very long this one will be much shorter and not so detailed. my name is john (47) and i live in england and this was my second trip to vegas almost one year after my first. i flew out of england on 19th february heading for orlando where i was visiting my friend before heading on to vegas. after a fantastic stay in the sunshine state where we visited disney world and both the universal theme parks i arrived at orlando airport for my 9.15pm flight with delta on sunday the 22nd of feb only to be told it was cancelled due to rain in vegas.. by the way did i tell you that my flight from england 4 days earlier had to return an hour into the journey because of engine problems and i ended up staying in a manchester hotel for the night and losing 24 hours with my friend in florida. oh well im not going to let that ruin my time in the usa so after spending the night in another hotel i arrive back at mco early monday morning and leave on time for dallas where i am delayed for another 2 hours before finally departing and getting into a wet las vegas around 12.45pm. after a speedy check in at the barbary coast hotel i make my way to room 339 on the 3rd floor only about 20 yards away from the lifts. nice spacious room with 2 queen beds and a view of flamingo hotel and a little of the strip. i will say right away i liked my room very much and i think barbary coast is a great hotel in a great location and at a reasonable price. i had no complaints and would certainly stay here again in the future. anyway im in vegas at last and seeing as i am only here for four and a half days there is no time to lose so after changing and showering its off out to begin the fun. i was to busy this year to write down when and what i did so i will categorize and comment on the things listed below… (more…)

Hi Going to vegas for 5 days am really excited. We have to fly from Denver which is a 5 hour car drive to start with. Got to DEN on Sunday evening and to bed early for our 7am flight. Flight was only about 1/2 full at best so it was pretty relaxing. Touch down right on time. Picked up our car at the dollar rental car, had to walk the last 2 blocks as the shuttle bus died in the middle of an intersection. Not a great way to start. Arrived at harrahs by 9;15 for early check-in we have 2 nights comped. Gave the clerk the $20 tip and ask for an upgrade and a view of the strip, he stated no problem but if this is an upgrade I would never want to stay in a regular room. View was the imperial palace and if your head works like an owls you could see a little of the strip. (more…)

Left New Orleans on a milk run (two stops prior to Vegas) a 7:45 AM after having ridden on the largest parade in Mardi Gras, Endymion. Got in at 3:30 AM and left for the airport at 6:30 AM. Obviously not much sleep.

Arrived in Vegas at 1:oo PM and headed to the Excalibur via shuttle. Check in was completed in 20 minutes which was OK since we had a large party requiring five separate rooms. All were located on floor 17 of Tower II. The rooms were clean but seemed well worn and dingy. My first trip to Vegas in 2001 we stayed at the Luxor. It is a much better hotel for approximately the same cost. Oh well, lesson learned.

Ate dinner at the prime rib restaurant (sorry can’t remember the name) in the hotel the first evening and the meal was great. Our waiter Shawn added much to the experience and the prime rib was excellent. (more…)

I LOVE VEGAS!! This is my first trip report as it was the most AMAZING trip we have ever had!On past trips we have stayed @ NYNY (terrible) Luxor (great, but too far from center) Venetian (awesome, but is now too expensive) Harrah’s (too old)this is our 4th stay with TI and will probably be our home in Vegas from now on.I am an avid VP player & always strive for the ever haunting…………… (more…)

Party time at the Fitz. I know ,I know its not exactly Ceasers Palace. But it works for us. Been there three straight years and get treated pretty darn good. I don’t care for the huge hotels, but thats just me. We all had a blast, won some, lost some.Played slots, keno, three card poker, black jack, roulette, craps, V P just about everthing.(my wife is so lucky at three card poker, straight flush several times) she also hit $700.00 on a 5o cent slot. This trip was my birthday/Valentine’s trip. Originally, we had planned on going to New Orleans, but for this particular weekend, air was high and we only had one free night through Harrahs. Mike had a free ticket, but did not want to waste it on a one hour flight. So, jokingly, I said “hey, it’s probably cheaper to go to Las Vegas!”. Well the next thing you know, we booked air and got $59/$59/$79 room rates from Harrahs. I always get free rooms, but for some reason this weekend we had to pay. We were using Mike’s free ticket and I booked a flight for $266. Well, a couple of nights later we were going through some files and found a travel voucher for $250 that I had not used yet. So, after applying that to my flight, we were traveling almost free! (more…)

My wife Jo and I arrived Friday afternoon (2/6) at 5:35 Vegas time, picked up bags, and took a cab to the Orleans (our favorite). Check in was quick (no line, which surprised me on a Friday night at 6). Got an 8th floor room, strip-view, just 2 doors down from the elevators. Sweet! GAMBLING We gambled almost exclusively at the Orleans. We play the video slots and video poker, and that’s about it. They have an outstanding selection of both, in all denominations. The only problem is they don’t have a lot of the newer games…the main focus is on video poker. Our favorites this trip included Creature from the Black Lagoon, Enchanted Unicorn, Money Storm, Marilyn Monroe, the new Jeff Foxworthy game, Tobasco, and Frog Prince. In an earlier report, I saw where someone mentioned getting a lot of free spins on the bonus game of “Money Storm". That happened to me, too. Ended up with 36 free spins in one bonus round, hitting something like 4000 bonus points. We also did alright on the .25 Wheel of Fortune. I started out playing DDB triple play poker, but didn’t have much luck. Then I found “Ultra Bonus Poker". I loved this game! Great bonuses on ANY 4-of-a-kind, and better ones for 2, 3, 4, and Aces. I thought for sure I’d get a Royal on this sucker. I was probably dealt 25 “4-to-a-Royals", but couldn’t catch the final card. Bummer! But the machine was paying well. We also gambled a little at Paris, Aladdin, New York New York, Monte Carlo, and MGM Grand, but couldn’t hit a thing. The lone exception was the bank of Austin Powers machines in the back of Aladdin, where we played for an hour or so and made a few bucks. Also played in the Aladdin slot tournament, but couldn’t even come close to winning anything. (more…)

I had just turned 21 in the spring of ‘97, and had gone home to live with the parents for the summer (in college at the time). Having just been legally introduced to gambling by my fellow casino enthusiast parents, I was itching for a trip to Las Vegas when I could actually ‘participate’. When I found out Boz Scaggs (one of my Dad’s favorites) was playing Hard Rock, the lobbying went from optimitic to successful, and the planning began. (more…)

Waiting to Board we played Vegas Trivia Games for Lottery Tickets. Joe1 and Derick won a 5$ ticket each (Joe1 won 5$), but Loli and mom won a 2$ ticket each and Loli won $50…off to a good start (Of course $20 Rule applied!) Note: Majcom LOST (a pattern to emerge throughout). Flew SW-$189 + tax roundtrip. I was the only one who got a Boarding pass A, everyone else B. So, it was upon me to stand in front of the A’s, carrying sweaters, bags and jackets to “throw” onto 6 seats once I boarded. Since we play “games” on the plane we need to sit together. Of course everyone who passed by bitched and complained “Why are these seats saved…the plane just started boarding” etc). (more…)

Hi all….really enjoyed reading the trip reports before I left for my own trip…however….I had the WORST trip ever!!!! If you are leaving for vegas please read this so hopefully you can avoid the mistakes I made!! This was my fourth time in vegas, always have had a blast, but unfortunately I have won the last few times I have gone and i left for vegas with an overly cocky attitude about how I would win. Went with friends who were going to the shoe convention, so I had too much time alone to lose #!!! This trip report focuses on how easy it is to lost a lOT of money, even playing “smart” (?) Becuase I was alone most of the trip I didn’t do much besides gamble and eat. I will be more intelligent next time I go!!! DAY ONE Was so excited to gamble, couldn’t wait to hit the $1 slots at mgm and bj. These two have always been good to me in the past. Brought about 1200 to gamble. Sat down at several $1 slots….lost $300 in a matter of minutes. Dollar slots can eat 100 like it is nothing. Sat down at bj….lost another $200 in half hour (playing only the minimum bets, $10 table!). VERY DEPRESSED! Had travelled four hours to lose $500 in a matter of less than an hour. (more…)
