Traveling abroad can be a wonderful adventure but can turn into
a disaster if you don’t know about possible dangers and prepare
for them. Have you thought of traveling to Paris? All those wonderful
houses, Louvre, cafés, boutiques and of course the French language!
I would depart this very instant, if I could. But! There always
is a problem, isn’t there? How do I get there? What shall I take
with me? Who is going to water my plants? And what if the water
pipes in my apartment break while I am away? I also have a dog –
shall I take it with me? Where is it going to stay – my mom hates
it, you know. Do I need a visa? Vaccination? Oh, and money! I need
a budget! … This list seems to be endless. And random as this one
is, you are on the straight path to forget the most important things…
How about the expiration date of my passport? Oh God, and how about
this chicken breast I have in the fridge! And vegetables! …
I am sure that there are many people who will find this just ridiculous.
They belong to the happy kind. They belong to those who – and I
don’t know how – have their lives organized and in perfect order.
For the less lucky members of our splendid kind follows a list of
‘must-dos’ and ‘mustn’t-forgets’ and ‘mustn’t-dos’ and ‘always-keep-on-minds’.
Because traveling abroad is not only romantic Paris, exotic Thailand
or adventurous Tibet. It is not only the anxiety of the actual going
abroad. It includes reality – much more than many of us might personally
like! It is the pre-travel preparation and planning, home security,
luggage security and many more. Besides, all can be even more complicated
when traveling with pets and kids or your grandma. Now, let’s see
if we can leave our apartment secured, arrive safely, have a wonderful
time, come home safely finding our apartment just the way we left
it and all of this WITHOUT leaving home one single important item…
