Interesting about eBay Special prices and great offers. Click hereeBay Makes It Easier for Developers to Connect to The World's Online Marketplace®February 10, 2004 - SAN DIEGO, Calif. (O'Reilly Emerging Technology Conference), - Feb. 10, 2004 - eBay, The World's Online Marketplace®, today announced the expansion of its Web services offering to software developers by adding SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) and Java® integration capabilities to the eBay software development kit (SDK) family. Available in Q2 2004, this new offering will broaden the existing XML and .NET integration capabilities available today, and will will give developers even more ways to seamlessly connect to the eBay platform. Through the eBay Developers Program, software developers are able to access the eBay SDK family and other technical resources. Today, there are more than 4,000 software developers who are members of the eBay Developers Program compared to less than 200 just one year ago. These developers are creating innovative third-party software solutions that automate and accelerate business processes, and create greater efficiencies for buying and selling on eBay. "In a short period of time, the eBay Developers Program has attracted thousands of developers - including eBay sellers, independent software vendors, and large enterprise solution providers," said Debbie Brackeen, director of the eBay Developers Program. "The program is enabling businesses to integrate with the eBay platform, and create a rich array of productivity solutions that will help buyers and sellers in our marketplace." "In a short period of time, the eBay Developers Program has attracted thousands of developers - including eBay sellers, independent software vendors, and large enterprise solution providers," said Debbie Brackeen, director of the eBay Developers Program. "The program is enabling businesses to integrate with the eBay platform, and create a rich array of productivity solutions that will help buyers and sellers in our marketplace." By connecting to the eBay platform, members of the eBay Developers Program are creating a broad range of solutions including: auction management, seller automation, buyer automation, category-specific productivity tools, as well as wireless and enterprise applications. "As developers build on the eBay platform, it becomes a richer, more useful place for all users," said Tim O'Reilly, founder and president of O'Reilly & Associates. "By adding support for SOAP and JAVA integration, eBay is extending its platform and opening up more avenues for creative enhancement of its services. Among the many third-party solutions, members have created tools that allow users to automatically list items for sale or handle post-transaction fulfillment. For example, Superpawn, a leader and pioneer in reselling pre-owned merchandise with 46 company and franchised stores nationwide, developed an application that linked its point-of-sale system to eBay. The application streamlined the process of listing, categorizing and fulfilling merchandise. The application is so efficient and effective that SuperPawn created a second company, zTradingPost.com, to resell this application - now called AuctionMonitor - to other retail businesses. In addition, many members have also created specialized software that helps users sell in a specific category on eBay. TestMart, for example, became a member of the eBay Developers Program and introduced a new suite of selling services, including a new tool to list test and measurement equipment on eBay. The solution enables sellers to include detailed specifications and photos extracted from TestMart's industry-leading database of test equipment information. This gives test and measurement sellers the ability to access information quickly, make listings more appealing, and accelerate the process of doing business on eBay. An overview of the eBay Developers Program and introduction to the new Web services offerings by eBay will be presented in a session at the O'Reilly Emerging Technology Conference in San Diego, California on Wednesday, February 11, 2004. ... full release Partners
