Find the SACC Kit for your cell phone
The following Brands and Models were factory pre-programmed or customer programmed to “1 touch dial” the 911 button by pressing the "9":
Most cell phones that are "open face" such as NOKIA, AUDIOVOX, NEXTEL, MOTOROLA, and SONY ERICSSON have this problem.
Locking your keyboard helps BUT any incoming calls on most phones will UNLOCK the keypad to become exposed again to the possibility of accidental 911 call-out problems.
According to CTIA (regulates and governs the manufacturing and certifying of new cell phones) over 153 million cell phone subscribers are in use today. Of these over 40 million still have the 1 touch 911 problem keypads and need protection. CTIA also has a 911 cell phone donation program to return 2-3 million “used” cell phones per year to abusive and needy family and senior citizen usage. The problem is that the older phones have or are reprogrammed for the 1 touch 911 feature. The frequency of accidental activation of the 911 by these users is 4 times the frequency than other usage per an article in the APCO Bulletin.
