The Woman’s Board presents the 20th annual Zimmerman Lecture Series featuring world-renowned experts in gardening and design.

January 9 – Linda Cobb, "Growing English Roses in a Cottage Garden"
Did you know that cottage roses are among the most fragrant varieties? On January 9 at 1 p.m., you'll hear author, columnist and lecturer Linda Cobb share her expertise on elements of cottage gardening and the cultivation of large, fragrant cabbage roses. Ms. Cobb is perhaps best known for her own English cottage garden, featuring 300 David Austin English roses. She'll show how these roses can be used as feature plants in a cottage garden and demonstrate her simple feeding program to promote healthy, abundant roses.

February 6 – Douglas Hoerr, "Designs Which Dazzle"
Douglass Hoerr is a member of Chicago Mayor Richard Daley's Landscape Taskforce and a contributor to the city's green roof movement. Principal of respected landscape design firm DHLA, Mr. Hoerr is recognized for creating designs that reflect a deep understanding of spaces nad how we inhabit them. He plays with ideas of chaos and control in his work. Mr. Hoerr will speak at the Garden on February 6 at 1 p.m., sharing his energy, vision and unique perspective on garden design.
